Collection Development

The Board of Trustees approved a collection development policy for the Public Law Library in October 2003. The collection development policy, drafted by Public Law Library staff with input from the Board of Trustees, guides the Public Law Library in making selection, supplementation, and retention decisions about the Public Law Library collection. The Public Law Library collection includes subscription databases, and the collection development policy provides guidance in choosing between print and online resources. The policy also identifies the minimum collection requirements for federal, state, and local legal materials. In addition, the policy identifies the subject areas in which the Public Law Library will concentrate its collection efforts.
